Ascendency is a galactic strategy game of exploration and encounter. The game requires as much skill in diplomacy, exploration and discovery as it does in interstellar tactics by placing the player in the midst of a galaxy full of alien species. As the game begins, the player is in charge of a single race inhabiting a planet in an unknown galaxy. The player's challenge is to cultivate his or her planet's resources and to discover and build inventions necessary to explore other planets and encounter other species.    This is one of those all-encompassing games that can take you days and days (and days) to play . . . and you will have a lot of fun doing it. Ascendency is truly one of the best games of this type and is an excellent investment in fun.
