Associate

   I cannot tell you how many times I have used one of Win95's "features" to click directly on an icon for some file and found the program which started it turned out to be something other than what I expected.
   No more. Thanks to Associate.
   This fine shareware program lets you change file associations at will and includes, as a bonus, an opportunity to change the icon to just about anything you like.
   For an example of this, look to the left, where we have changed the icon for Word files to something much more attractive.

Windows, and I have actually done it when I get really frustrated. But the process is not for the novice. With Associate, anyone can do it easily.
I really like programs like Associate, and this is a perfect example why. Simple and elegant, it makes those file association changes with a click of the mouse. No muss. No fuss. This product is more than worth the small registration fee and you can try it before you buy it to see how very useful it is.
Never again will I click on a .BMP file and have Windows load it into Paint. Such joy!
