ATM Deluxe

Truth. We've never been too fond of those font manipulation programs which allow you to set fonts up into groups and move the groups in and out of use as needed.
I'm not sure why. Probably one reason certainly is that no one who made those programs is still making the program today. Certainly there is a good reason to have less fonts in memory (it speeds up Windows) but the idea of zipping things in and out appeared to be just another step one had to endure.

Adobe has something relatively new in the font world: multiple master fonts. One MM font is included with Adobe Type Manager DeLuxe.
These fonts allow you to adjust certain basic characteristics of the font itself – boldness, slant, width of letters and the like. Not all charactistics are available for every front.
But it is a great idea and you can play with the concept with the one font which comes with ATM DeLuxe and see how it can fit into your type needs.

Now font-expert Adobe, whose Adobe Type Manager has been the method for managing Type 1 fonts for years, has come up with Adobe Type Manager DeLuxe which, among other things, provides very easy and professional font control.
All of a sudden it is worth it to manage these fonts (Windows loads faster and it is far easier to "find" a font in your word processor or page layout program if you do not have to sort through several hundred of them).
The second advantage to Adobe Type Manager DeLuxe is that it actually allows you to have more fonts more directly available than without it. Need some specialty font? Just activate ATM and then activate that font. It is available at once. This certainly beats going through the installation process when you want a font.
ATM comes with a selection of excellent Type 1 fonts from Adobe, plus a copy of Adobe's Type On-Call which, when registered at no

cost, gives you several more. The Type On-Call program also gives you instant access to Adobe's humungeous type library, which you can order from and activate any time of the day or night over the web. And, because you do the "work," you get a discount on these fonts as well.
