File Box Extender

Every now and again, you come across a utility program which is so good and so complete that you never knew how you lived without it. Such a program is File Box Extender.
As hard disks get larger and larger – and other methods of storage become more common – one of the real challenges is finding and organizing things. In my own example (probably extreme) I have 43 and 19 gigabyte hard disks organized as letters C through I. And, believe it or not, I do know where I want to put most of the things I save, but navigating to them wastes what I consider to be an immense amount of time.
File Box Extender changes all of that. It places two simple little boxes on the title bar of your save, save as and open boxes of every application you have. Within a day of installing this program, those little boxes became my best friends.
One is a "favorites" button and the other is a "recent directories" button. The configuration options for the favorites are extremely extensive: you can put in separators and sub menus, you can edit everything from locations to names. This is so good and so complete that it is really rather amazing.
Hey, its as simple as clicking on the little heart icon and clicking on a directory (or a file, you can select files, too) and going there. The Open/Close box immediately displays the directory you want to be in and you just do what you want.
Notice, too, the last item in the menu File Box Extender displays when you click the heart: the option to "maintain favorites." That's right, you can add locations right on the fly, so separate configuration screen or anything. In the time it takes you to find a directory one time, you have it saved for all time in File Box Extender.
In configuring your favorites menu, you can drag things around any way you want. This program is so easy to use it is almost invisible. But its a hefty helper indeed!
So what else could File Box Extender do? Nothing, really. It even works with the Windows Explorer. But it does have a few other options: moving the two little buttons to the left to be sure your regular system buttons show up in different graphic resolutions.
File Box Extended, in summary, is simply a "gotta have."
