Kai's Power Goo

Power Goo Is A World of Fun

We were tempted to say this one's just for fun, but, actually, there are some very interesting uses to which you can put Kai's Power Goo. We'll talk about them in a minute, but first we really want to call on our guest reviewer, who just plain had a really good time with this program.
   You'll see why in just a bit . . .

By Fergy, His Sister-In-Law (sort of)

What with all the things we have been up to, lovey, we've really had little time to learn this computer stuff, don't you know. But when we heard about this programme, Kai's Power Goo, we just had to get our 'ands on it and see if what my American cousins were saying was right.

You know all about HRH Big Ears, of course. And his "friend" Camilla, the Bow-Wow. They've been tromping the moors together for some time, its been said. And even his Mummy on his side and all. What a terrible fix. Made me rather put out, it did, and what with all of them saying I was a bad girl. Quite depressing, don't you know.

Anyway, last time we were in what those people in the Palace refer to as "the Colonies," someone introduced me to this love, Kai Krause, and, being as we were feelin' down and out, he said he had an idea which would make us feel better about it all. So he put together this Power Goo programme, but then forgot to tell us about it when he finished.

Thank goodness for friends, because we got a copy of it, anyway. And you know, Mr. Krause even put a picture of HRH Big Ears in it, for me to be playing with. So we did, and this is what turned out:

Had fun with HRH Big Ears' big ears, as you can see. Made him some beady little eyes, too. Serves him right. That;s how he looks to us, anyway. Maybe those ears will help him on those cellular telly calls to the Bow-Wow. He can hear her better when she invites him off to go tromping

 the moors and all.

He likes that stuff, you know. Waltzin' Matilda all over and shootin' poor animals. Thinks he's an intellectual, don't you know. But as his sis-in-law we've known him for longer than anyone should have to and we can tell you most of his intellectualism is in his own head. But when you're going to be the King (maybe!), people don't criticise, except for the Queen Mum, you know. He's more like a pointy-head with a big mouth.

   Something like this . . .

One messed up guy, that's HRH. Now that he's divorced the truth can come out and we are sure appreciative of Mr. Kai for doing up this programme for us . . .and for you, too.

Now, truly, we asked the programme to go into our head and see what could be done to sort of capture HRH Big Ears just like he looks to us. And, we'll tell you, it was just amazing. Captured the essense of his soul, it did.

Even Prince Wills laughed at this one . . .

Love to you and thanks to Mr. Kai.

So, obviously, you can have a great deal of fun with this program. The nice thing about Kai's Power Goo is you can see the changes being made, unlike the filters in many programs which you must first apply and then decide if you like the effect. In addition, what you see is a "liquid" changing of the picture – no pixels. Output
these pictures in a high enough resolution, and you have truly photo-realistic art.
Kai's Power Tools can also be used to create morphs. It will output these morphs to .AVI files. While the files are pretty large, the effect is extremely smooth. There are all sorts of things you can do.
One of the reasons this is so is because you can seemlessly combine two pictures into one. This is like the clone function in many programs, but is extremely smooth. Enjoyable.
While all this is great recreation, the truth of the matter is Kai's Power Goo is also a very useful tool for creating very interesting backgrounds, textures and other similar design elements. Apply some of the effects to a photograph of a carpet, for example, and you will have something that has never, ever been seen before.
This is a fine program. It is enjoyable to use, the interface is a work of art in itself, and is easy to manipulate.
