I absolutely adore the concept of macros.
   I have, up to now, been very much frustrated by the implementation of macro recording and playback in Windows.
   You have to understand that I am an old timer, relatively speaking, when it was nothing to write a batch file in DOS if I wanted the computer to do things. Pretty much all by myself, but sometimes with a little hint from my buddy, Calvi, I could make a computer do almost anything from the command line with batch files.
   Of course, many of the of the things I "batched" in DOS were done automatically in WIndows. But Windows then presented all sorts of opportunities to do other types of batch-type programming, but there was precious little to program with.
   The Windows Recorder was about as good as anything else. That's prtty much because most of the feature sets of the "other" macro programs were not very elaborate. I was spoiled, having worked with 4DOS in DOS, a very, very robust batch environment.
   I have just been spoiled again. The spoiler is Macro Express, which, finally, does everything and anything you would want a macro program to do. Its super.
   I have a joke list. Being something of a perfectionist, I like to have my joke messages formatted in a certain way. Its rather complicated. I also like the ability to add a footer to the joke which stuff the members of the list might like to know. And I change that from time to time. So, it takes several minutes to format the joke messages. Sort of a pain.
   No more. Not only does Macro Express format the messages for my joke list, it also enters the addresses of the people I send the jokes to, copies and pastes the joke itself from submissions my friends send me, formats the subject line and gives me the ability to easily change my footer. All in the blink of an eye.
   If this was all Macro Express could do, it would be well worth the price of admission. But there is more. A lot more.
   For one thing, it can generate a menu bar of frequently-used macros. You just click on the one you want to use. So sophisticated is this program you can use custom icons for each macro. That pretty well blew me away.
   What is super impressive about Macro Express is its very, very rich feature set. I have yet to find a command it cannot do. When I wanted it to back the cursor up one field in an email form, I just told it to execute shift-tab. It did it. I was rather surprised. I probably should not have been.
   Macro Express also comes with a huge amount of wizards for the programming-impaired. They'll let you do a huge amount of stuff. Of course it captures anything you can do with the keyboard and/or mouse. And, unlike Recorder, allows you to edit everything.
   I was also extremely impressed with Macro Express' ability to handle CD operations and email functions. I have four different macros to send email to the people I send email to most often. A mere press of a key combination opens Microsoft Outlook, addresses the email and pops the cursor into the message area. Way cool.
   Macro Express is a must-have that will save you lots of time and frustration. It is easy to use and works flawlessly.
