Wet Sock

It is true that everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it. WetSock won't be able to do anything about the weather, either, but you sure will be able to get the very best and latest

up-to-date information about your weather with this little gem of a program.
WetSock connects to the Internet, finds your local weather bureau server, downloads the latest information and then displays the current weather condition as an icon on your task bar. You merely place your cursor over the icon and it will tell you the present sky condition and temperature.
Left click the icon and the screen at the right pops up, with more current information. Clicking on the "forecast" button will give you the latest official weather forecast being issued by the weather bureau for your area. You can print the forecast out, too, or copy it to the clipboard.

A very neat feature of WetSock is to be able to check weather all around the world. At 11 a.m. when this review was being written, it was 44 degrees in Paris (at Orly Airport) and mostly cloudy. Nice to know it was a prettier (but colder) day here in Louisville. You can also have WetSock convert to and from metric and imperial numbers.
There are special icons when weather warnings (snow, tornadoes, flash flooding, etc.) are in effect and a short .WAV file will play to call your attention to when these warnings are received. You can go to the warnings immediately by clicking on the "warnings" button.
WetSock can be passive or proactive. In its proactive mode, it will dial up the weather server at regular intervals (you decide what those intervals are) and update your weather. Or, you can just let it sit in the task bar and dial up whenever you wish.
The program is so good that it will do all this in the background. You won't even know it is happening in terms of affecting your computer'speed.
If you're in to weather information, just connect to the WetSock Web site for a demo version. You won't be sorry you did. Its a fantastic program.
