There are 80-gazillion programs out there – plus 190-gazillion web sites – which will help you create excellent graphics for your web pages. Xara Webstyle is absolutely one of the finest. What makes
this program different from the other 79-gazillion, 999-whatever is that you can change the basic shapes and designs it offers (and it offers a lot of them) to your heart's content. Obviously, the one thing about those programs (and web sites) with lots of stock shapes and designs is that sooner or later, someone is going to come across your site and recognize the graphics. Its a design no-no.
So lookie here. So while, from this
point, what you see is the usual collection of bullets (although well done) you can use them "as is" and someone is going to run across them one day. Not here. Those buttons along the left
side let you make an infinite variety of changes to the bullets – adding text, changing colors in many ways, changing the texture, adjusting the size and doing things with (or leaving off) the drop
shadow. A very, very cool feature also lets you develop themes – so that the various elements of your site: the bullets, headings, backgrounds, dividers and buttons all look, generally, alike.
This is really good stuff. Very impressive. You should also pay attention to the little arrow in the bottom right corner of the examples
window. What it says is these are just some of the bullets available. The CD is chock full of more more. Xara Webstyle is billed, by its very name, as a web graphic generation program. But it can, and is, more. By simply saving out a graphic and
bringing it into another graphic application like PhotoShop, you can "up" the image's resolution and use it in your printed documents as well. I have been very pleased with the results and you will be, too.
